Pungro, August 1 (MExN): Pungro Village Students’ Union (PVSU) has expressed solidarity and cooperation to Kiphire Tuensang Districts Sumi Students’ Union (KTDSSU) and Pungro Area College Students’ Union (PACSU) regarding the joint representation submitted to Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland on linking Aadhaar with electoral roll exclusively for Kiphire district.
A statement from PVSU president, Joseph K Yimchunger asserted that there is a rampant manipulation of electoral roll as pointed out by the KTDSSU and PACSU. “Therefore, the concerned department should rectify any anomalies and irregularities when detected without any prejudice.” The PVSU further stated all the bogus electorates should be outrightly deleted to ensure “fair and clean election.”
It also pointed out that some villages have misconstrued the noble initiative as the linking of Aadhaar with electoral roll would not be confined only in particular villages but implemented in the entire district. “Moreover, it is an undeniable fact that bogus electorates exists in almost all the villages which every person should admit,” it added.
As such, PVSU stated, no particular village should presume to have been particularized but rather partake cohesively towards every common cause. PVSU also assured to extend all possible assistance in this regard and proactively partake in accomplishing clean election in its jurisdiction.
