More trains, buses to arrive in Nagaland before June 1

One more positive case on May 26, State’s COVID-19 tally at 4

 

Dimapur, May 26 (MExN): Nagaland Principal Secretary, Home Abhijit Sinha has informed that the State Government is actively trying to arrange transportation to bring back its stranded citizens from various locations in India.


Arrangements are expected to be initiated before June 1 for special trains from Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Bangalore and Rajasthan and special bus from West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Daman & Diu and  Lucknow for the stranded Nagaland citizens, Sinha informed in his briefing on May 26.


In light of the above arrangements, it was informed that, all those who have already applied for the extended one-time financial assistance and wish to return to Nagaland by Government arranged transportation, including buses, can cancel their applications on the iamstranded.nagaland.gov.in portal by utilizing the Withdrawal Form. 


A total of 12244 citizens have signed up in the nCOVID-19 Nagaland – Visitors App since March 23 and in the last 14 days, 2561 persons have submitted their travel self-declaration. At present 1774 persons are being digitally monitored through the App, according to the briefing.

 

More arrivals in the offing 
Meanwhile, a Special Train from Jaipur, Rajasthan which moved on May 26 at around 3:00 pm with about 370 stranded persons from Nagaland is expected to reach Lumding, Assam on May 28 at around 8:00 am. The passengers will be thereafter ferried to Dimapur by buses, Sinha informed.


Another 99 stranded citizens, meanwhile, have started their journey home from Amritsar, Punjab on May 26 in 3 buses. Adviser to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Abu Metha informed on a Twitter update that they embarked on the 3-day journey after “availing transportation assistance” from the State Government. 


15007 applicants for one time financial assistance
Meanwhile, the Principal Secretary, Home also informed that 15007 applications have been received for availing the government’s one-time financial assistance and active verification is in progress. The release of this assistance is likely to start from June 1 onwards after completion of verification and other necessary formalities, he informed.


The state government had reopened the facility of online applications for availing the one-time assistance of Rs 10,000 to all the stranded citizens outside Nagaland who voluntarily opted to stay back at their respective places. This facility opened at 10 am on May 23 and closed at 10 am on May 26.


After one more person was tested positive for COVID-19 on May 26, the state’s tally of active cases went up to 4. Providing an update on the 4 cases, Sinha also said that the persons are now undergoing treatment at COVID-19 Hospitals and their condition is stable. Active surveillance is in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection, he added.

 

No shortage of essentials
Meanwhile, the Joint Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Hiazu Meru has informed that there was no report of shortage of essential commodities services for now in the state.


The state has also been getting medical equipments from different parts of the country transported with the help of IAF and Air Cargo by Ministry Civil Aviation, a DIPR report quoted the Joint Secretary.
