Morung Debate to begin on August 16

A total of 16 teams will be taking part at the upcoming Morung Debate scheduled to begin with two-day preliminary round on August 16 and 17.
Comprising of students from different educational institutions in Dimapur and Kohima, the team were given an orientation workshop here today at Don Bosco Institute of Development and Leadership, (DBIDL), Dimapur. 15 teams out of 16, turned up for the workshop.

Imchala Ozukum and Arien Jamir, who are part of the organising team, discussed and explained the format and guidelines of the debate to the participating teams.
After the preliminaries, the quarters will be held on August 24 while Semi-finals is on August 31.
The debate will conclude with a grand finale on September 7.
It may be mentioned that the Morung Debate is an initiative of The Morung Express with the objective of creating a public debate platform for young people from 18-25 years of age. It is designed as a form of expression to examine socio-political, economic, cultural and religious issues which are prevalent in today’s context.
The participants can be part of developing a critical consciousness that informs the social discourse and challenges the status quo through delving deeply and exploring common solutions.
