Dr. Moalemba (Moa Jamir) is the new Editor of The Morung Express. A Selection Committee—formed specifically for the task—arrived at this decision following a consultation and interaction process with all working journalists of the newspaper.
Dr. Moalemba has been working with The Morung Express since August 2014. His academic background includes: B.A. (1998-2001) Economics (Hons) from Patkai Christian College, Nagaland University; and Master of Arts (2005-07) Economics from the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
He received a PhD in 2015 from the Centre for European Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
He will assume the office of the Editor from November 1, 2017.
The Selection Committee is confident that Dr. Moalemba can take The Morung Express into the next phase of its journey.
The Selection Committee takes this opportunity to thank the outgoing Editor, Dr. Aküm Longchari, for his leadership and commitment to the principles of The Morung Express.
For Aküm, The Morung Express continues to be an ‘evolving idea’—an idea that embraces the values of justice, freedom, inclusivity, tolerance, acceptance and the self-confidence and self-assurance to accommodate those with whom we may differ and disagree.
Ultimately it is the readers, and the public, that make us relevant. We seek your support as The Morung Express transits into the leadership of Dr. Moalemba, the new Editor.
