DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 20 (MExN): The Morung Scholarship Test (MST) Felicitation-cum-Pre-Christmas Celebration 2025 was held at the auditorium of the National Institute of Technology and Innovation (NITI) here on Saturday.
The programme, organised by Team NITI, was held to felicitate achievers of the Morung Scholarship Test and to mark the spirit of the pre-Christmas season.
Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur Dr Tinojongshi Chang attended the event as the chief guest, while All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) president Bithungo Kikon was the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Chang said the programme was dedicated to students and aimed at motivating young minds to identify their goals at an early stage. He said that while students are often guided by school syllabi, real learning begins when they discover their interests and strengths beyond the classroom.
Highlighting the importance of encouragement, Chang said motivation works both ways, as students also inspire elders and mentors. He stressed the need for early training, skill development and exposure to modern fields such as science, technology, programming and artificial intelligence.
Urging students to dream big, the deputy commissioner said they should work towards their chosen professions with discipline, focus and confidence. He also emphasised the importance of positive attitude, goal setting and clear direction in life, adding that institutions nurturing students at an early stage play a crucial role in shaping the future. Investing in children, he said, was an investment in the future, and called for collective efforts from parents, teachers, schools and society.
Guest of honour Bithungo Kikon congratulated the students and described the programme as a meaningful platform for self-evaluation. He said academic achievements mark only the beginning of a student’s journey and stressed that sustained success depends on consistent hard work. He also urged parents to focus on building competence, confidence and moral values in children.
The programme was chaired by Sweta Giri and began with an invocation by Rev Moses Murry. NITI managing director Ajay Sethi delivered the welcome address. MST toppers were felicitated by the management, while short speeches were delivered by toppers, parents, school principals and invited guests.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Rishav Sethi, CEO, NITI, followed by cake cutting, gift exchange and refreshments to mark the pre-Christmas celebration.
