Nagaland lifts NE open men’s doubles championship
Kohima, September 27 (DIPR): Joseph Sumi and Raju of Nagaland lifted the Men’s Doubles open title at the North East Zone Inter State and Open Badminton Championship held from September 23 to 26 at Agartala, Tripura. Chubanungla and Deepika of Nagaland also bagged the Junior Girls doubles title during the same meet.
Sirui Cup at Ukhrul from Oct 15
Imphal, September 26 (NNN):The 28th Sirui Lily Cup, 2011 will commence from October 15 with many teams participating in the tournament. The tournament will be held at Ukhrul. According to the organising committee of the event, the Sirui Lily Cup is a national level soccer meet which is the second biggest football tournament in Manipur. The Committee further said it has been confirmed that as many as 4 teams from outside Manipur, nine clubs from Manipur and two local clubs will be participating in the Sirui Cup, 2011. The winner of the trophy will get richer by Rs 75,000, according to the organising committee of the cup. Co-operation of sections of the people are sought by the organising committee.
Ura Area football tournament
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 27 (MExN): Ura Area Villages’ Youth Organization is organizing its 1st football tournament from October 5 to 11 2011 at Diezephe village ground. The tournament is being organized under the theme ‘Breaking the barriers through sports’ and is being sponsored by Veteran Multipurpose Co-operative Society. Azheto Zhimomi, MLA and Advisor Sericulture and Co-operation will grace the opening ceremony as chief guest and declare the tournament open while Mrs. Hushili Sema IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur will grace the closing ceremony as guest of honour.
