Mother’s Day celebrated at Cathedral

Kohima, May 14 (MExN): Mary Help of Christian Church, Cathedral Parish, Kohima celebrated Mother’s Day on May 14. Rev. Fr. Carolus Neisalhou, Parish Priest and Vicar General of the Diocese of Kohima, was the main celebrant for the Holy Mass during which special prayers were offered for all mothers.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Carolus, thanked and assured prayers to all the mothers. He made a special mention about the love of every mother and thanked them for the selfless love and care rendered in the family, informed a press release. Basing on the liturgy of the word, he further said that mother in a family is a “homemaker” just as the deacons in the Scripture (Acts 6: 5) who became the maker of Christian community in the early church.

However, Rev. Fr. Carolus added mothers are not to be only homemakers but also to be the one to lead the family to eternal life, while referring to the scripture John 14:6, “I am the way the truth and the life. No one can come to me except through me.” He exhorted also the children to look up to their mothers for their selfless love and to appreciate and pray for them.

Facilitation songs were performed by the youth and catechism children of Cathedral Parish to express gratitude. The mothers were presented with surprising gift, it added.
