Mon, May 30
In the backdrop of the declaration of the HSLC/HSSLC result, the only Govt. Higher Secondary School at Mon is left in a precarious situation without any basic infrastructure and building to accommodate the increasing number of students from the marginalized sections of the society who cannot afford to go outside for pursuing further studies.
The institution is reportedly in a dilapidated condition due to negligence for a long time. It was also learnt that the institution was built during the 70’s and no major renovation or new construction was done in reality till to date.
The institution is already in a rundown state and if immediate attentions are not given, the institution may collapse and be forced to close down, said an NGO member working with Shansham Organization.
In the face of such a grave and somber situation, the Konyak Mothers Association (KNSK) has undertaken a noble venture for providing a temporary makeshift classroom, toilet, and infrastructure.
The association conducted a massive social work on May 27 at GHSS and carried out massive cleansing of the old, tarnished building, toilet, campus, etc. Yumah, President of KNSK also informed that they would donate 30 numbers of desks and benches. The mothers have also called for immediate intervention of the government in the matter before it is too late.
