
Kohima, September 12 (MExN): Jakhama Students Union (JSU) in association with Loyola School, Jakhama organised a motivational program for teachers of government schools of Jakhama on Thursday in the village Panchayat Hall.
In a press release here, it stated that Fr. Joseph Coelho SJ (Headmaster of Loyola School) conducted a session on motivation; Fr. Sunny Augustine SJ (Principal, St Paul Institute of Education, Phesama) took sessions on the brain and creativity; while Fr. Victor D'Mello SJ (Headmaster, St Xavier School, Kidima) gave some practical guidelines on how to use songs and games to make classroom teaching more interesting. The sessions were interspersed with action songs and games.
“It was heartening to see even senior teachers enthusiastically participating in the programme,” it stated
It also said that earlier, on September 4, JSU & Loyola School had orgranised a common Teachers Day celebration in the Panchayat Hall for all the teachers working in Jakhama. 41 teachers from five schools participated in the celebration at which Kekutsol Sophie, Chairman of Jakhama village council was the chief guest. JSU presented each teacher with a gift to express their gratitude and appreciation. Sr. Teresa Alvares AC (Head Teacher of Campion School) led the prayer while students of Campion School, Jakhama presented a short cultural programme.
It further added that the idea of bringing together teachers of government and private schools was mooted by the Headmaster of Loyola School to strengthen the common mission and to work for the student community unitedly irrespective of the nature of the schools.
“Sharing of resources, skills, ideas, and innovative practices will motivate both staff and students to excel in their respective roles. The Headmasters and teachers of the Government Schools are open to this venture and hope it will mutually help everyone concerned,” it stated.
