
Chumukedima, June 18 (MExN): Mount Mary College, Chumukedima conducted a Goods and Services Tax (GST) workshop on June 17 at the college hall.
Organized by the Department of Commerce of the college, the workshop had resource persons from the Department of Taxes, Nagaland – Imosong Imsong, Deputy Commissioner of Taxes, Zulutemsu Longkumer, Superintendent of Taxes, and B. Sangru Aier, Inspector of Taxes, Dimapur.
Imosong Imsong highlighted the importance of GST. He mentioned that GST is the easiest and fastest taxes system aimed at making India into “one nation, one market, one rate and one tax nation,” informed a press release from C. Teeya Imsong, Principal of the college.
Zulutemsu Longkumer gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation about the GST and its benefit to the students and faculty of the college. He stated that GST is a “game changer for the Indian economy”. GST, he added, will lead to decline in inflation, ease of doing business and eventually decline in “Black Transaction”. Around 200 students and faculty members participated in the awareness campaign.
