Mount Mary College holds awareness programme on air pollution

Mount Mary College held an awareness programme on air pollution on September 10.

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, SEPTEMBER10 (MExN): Mount Mary College, Chümoukedima, in collaboration with the Chümoukedima Town Council, the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, on Wednesday organised an awareness programme on air pollution and its mitigation measures.

The event, held at Yashipokla Memorial Hall of the college, featured Yanathung Kithan, Scientist ‘B’ of the Nagaland Pollution Control Board, as the resource person. Kithan highlighted the causes and consequences of air pollution and suggested practical mitigation strategies, stressing the need for collective responsibility from individuals, institutions and communities.

As part of the programme, a speech competition on the theme “Our Air, Our Responsibility: Awareness and Mitigation Measures” was conducted, where students shared their perspectives and solutions to address environmental challenges.

Members of the college ECO Club also carried out a plantation drive within the campus to promote sustainable practices and green initiatives.

The programme concluded with an appeal to participants to translate awareness into concrete actions for a cleaner and healthier environment.
