
Wokha, July 28 (MExN): Mount Tiyi College (MTC), Wokha celebrated its 45th fresher’s social on July 26 with Mmhonlumo Kikon, Advisor IT, Science & Technology, NRE, Government of Nagaland as the special guest.MTC Principal Dr Apeni Lotha in a press release stated that speaking on the occasion, Mmhonlumo exhorted the students to set goals early in life and work hard to keep up with the changing times. He said that one has to be aware of the current demands in the job market and train oneself to be employable. He motivated the students by telling them that he is an aspiring poet and has already published a book of poems and is working on the second one. He added that the younger generation is faced with the biggest challenge posed by the artificial intelligence which is replacing humans in the job market and they need to be creative and trained to stay in the competition for survival. He also assured the students of organizing workshops and training programmes in the college in the near future.Mmhonlumo also inaugurated the vocational certificate course in cutting and tailoring which will start from this academic session. This certificate course is an initiative of the college with the one month salary donation received from Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs.
Emilo Yanthan and Hachithung Kikon of 1st semester class were crowned Miss Fresher and Mr Fresher respectively. The programme was chaired by Khyopenthung Tsopoe, Asst. Prof (English). The programme started with an invocation prayer by Shancholo Khuvung, Asst. Prof (Eng) and welcome address was spoken by Dr. Apeni Lotha, Principal. Speeches on behalf of the seniors and freshers were given by Yanpothung of 5th semester and Hachithung of 1st semester respectively. Amos Ovung, Vice-Principal spoke on behalf of the faculty and vote of thanks was conveyed by Erenbeni, General Secretary MTCSU.
