KOHIMA, MAY 13 (PTI): A state level consultation on Child Protection today resolved to constitute a Coordination Committee constituting civil societies, churches, village bodies and government departments in order to make Nagaland the safest state for children.
Held under the aegis of State Child Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) in collaboration with Childline Kohima and Dimapur, the House decided that SCPCR as the convener would initiate follow-up action plans for child protection in the state by sensitizing government departments, civil societies and general public on the rights of a child.
The committee would include representatives from State Child Protection Society (SCPS), Legal Services, Police, Labour Department, Education Department, All Nagaland Private School Association (ANPSA), Childline, Church, Student body, Village Child Protection Committee etc. They also appealed to the state government to frame its own child protection policy.
Meanwhile, on the rise in juvenile crimes and sexual abuse of children, Kohima Deputy Commissioner Rovilatuo Mor urged various sections of the society to spare no effort in sensitizing the children on their rights and eliminate all abuses.
