MP Supongmeren Jamir reviews landslide response

Kohima, June 9 (MExN): S. Supongmeren Jamir, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) a high-level meeting with Kohima district officials to review the response to the landslide in Phesama village and ongoing efforts to restore road connectivity on June 8.

The meeting, convened with the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, and the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Jakhama, focused on the impact of the landslide and the measures being taken to address the disruption.

The Deputy Commissioner briefed Jamir on the immediate steps initiated by the administration in collaboration with the Phesama Village Council and affected landowners to expedite clearance of the blocked roads. The MP expressed concern over the inconvenience caused to commuters and emphasized the urgency of restoring mobility in the area.

A major portion of the discussion also addressed persistent issues surrounding the bypass road connecting Packages 1 to 4. District officials informed Jamir that efforts were underway to engage landowners, contractors, and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to resolve the impasse and resume work on the bypass.

Jamir acknowledged the ongoing administrative efforts and called for coordinated, time-bound action to ensure full restoration of the vital route.
