Nagaland MP S Supongmeren Jamir with Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, August 9 (MExN): Nagaland's Member of Parliament, S Supongmeren Jamir met with Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, at his office chambers in Parliament. During the meeting, Jamir briefed Gandhi on the issues and provided an update on his recent attempts to address them in the Lok Sabha.
The MP reiterated his commitment to representing the voice of the people of Nagaland and vowed to continue advocating for these critical issues in Parliament.
A press release from the NPCC informed that the Nagaland MP faced a setback in his efforts to seek answers on two pressing issues affecting the people of Nagaland. The MP had submitted two unstarred questions in the Lok Sabha, focusing on the agreements between the Government of India and Naga Political Groups, and the Frontier Nagaland Territory issue related to the Eastern Naga People's Organisation.
However, both questions were disallowed by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. The decision was based on the grounds that the information sought was classified and in contravention of Rule 41(2) (xxi) of the “Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha.”
Despite this, Jamir submitted a subsequent request to raise the Frontier Nagaland Territory issue for discussion. This request was granted, with the Speaker allowing the matter to be discussed under Rule 377 of the same rules of procedure.
