MP Supongmeren raises Frontier Nagaland issue in LS

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 9 (MExN): Nagaland Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir today raised concerns today regarding the long-standing demand for the creation of a Frontier Nagaland Territory. The demand, led by the Eastern Naga People's Organisation (ENPO), has been a decade-long issue that Jamir highlighted, expressing disappointment with the Government of India's failure to fulfill its promises to the people of Eastern Nagaland. In his address at Parliament today, Jamir cautioned of possible adverse socio-political consequences in Nagaland if the matter is not addressed promptly. He also urged the Union Home Ministry to provide an update on the status of the Draft Memorandum of Settlement and the Draft of Working Paper (DWP) concerning the Frontier Nagaland Territory, which had been agreed upon by the Government of India, the Government of Nagaland, and the ENPO.
