Kohima, August 1 (MExN): Tokheho Yepthomi, Member of Parliament (MP), Lok Sabha (LS); National People’s Party State Unit and UNTABA have congratulated RN Ravi for being appointed as the new Governor of Nagaland.
Yepthomi, in his message stated that Ravi’s vast experience in his long career as a distinguished police officer; Director of Intelligence Bureau; Chairman of Joint Intelligence Committee and Deputy National Security Advisor, will be an asset for the people of Nagaland as he embarks to discharge his duties as the Governor of Nagaland.
“The people of Nagaland are very fortunate that for the first time in our decades old political negotiations, the State Governor will also be the Interlocutor for Naga Political Negotiations,” he added, while being hopeful that the “long overdue political issues” will soon be settled, with the Governor now at the helm of the Indo-Naga political negotiations.
He also welcomed the family members of the Governor to our state and hoped that they will make it “their home away from home.”
In a separate press release issued by its General Secretary-IPR, the NPP state Unit welcomed the new Governor of Nagaland, Ravi and hoped that with his experience and expertise with the government and Nagaland in various capacities, he will be able to work for the larger interest of the state and its people.
“We hope a sincere solution will be made on the Naga issue at the earliest. We wish him the very best for all his endeavors as a governor,” it added.
The NPP Nagaland State unit also applauded the outgoing governor of Nagaland for successfully completing his tenure and serving the State. “His love and kindness for the people will be fondly remembered. We wish and pray that he and his lady wife shall lead a happy and prosperous life ahead,” it added.
In another press release jointly issued by its Chairman and its General Secretary, the United Naga Tribes Association on Border Areas (UNTABA) has acknowledged the wisdom of the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi for appointing Ravi as the Governor of Nagaland.
“While extending our best wishes on his assumption as the head of the Government of Nagaland, we want to make it un-record that his assumption should never be an obstacle in bringing about logical conclusion at the earliest possible time of the ongoing Indo-Naga peace negotiation which is the expectations of all the Naga people and the stakeholders,” the UNTABA stated.
