
Kohima, July 3 (MExN): Despite suffering a dry spell in last few games, Morung United ended their season on a high note by defeating Merhülietsa FC (MFC) 3-2 at the ongoing Morning Premier League being played in Kohima on July 2. Scoring early in the game through Pirong in the 3rd minute, the Morung United could not hold on the lead for long as MFC equalized the goal with Mhasi scoring in the 14th minute. United led the match again after 13 minutes with Zhabhi netting the goal in the 27th minute. But once again it could not guard its score for long as MFC equalized through Imli in the 36th minute to end the first half in 2-2. As the match resumed again after the interval, Pirong came to the rescue of his team again by scoring his second goal in the 51th minute. This time around, United were determined to guard the score line and managed do so to end the last match of the season on a winning note. With today’s win, Morung United now has 23 points from 18 matches, level on points with MRH Sunrisers who are at 6th. But with Sunrisers having a superior goal differences, United will end the season in 7th position.
