Imphal | November 2
Manipur People's Party (MPP) on October 2 extended its support to Co-ordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) on the demand for disclosure of the details which were agreed upon between government of India and NSCN (IM) on October 31.
COCOMI has, on Friday, set November 4 as deadline to the state and the Central governments to disclose the details of the agreed points of the peace talks while expressing apprehension of inclusion of matters related with Manipur in the agreed points.
COCOMI is a recently formed conglomeration of AMUCO, CCSK, HERICOUN, LIPUL and UCM.
Addressing a press conference at MPP office in Imphal, its president O Jugindro said that the talks between RN Ravi and NSCN(IM) leadership had "agreed to ink the final agreement."
"Disclosing the agreed points in the public domain would be a right step on the part of Central government. It will also enable people and stakeholders to discuss the agreed points," he said.
"At the same time, the Centre had given an assurance that stakeholders will be consulted before inking the final agreement."
Meanwhile, Manipur State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) urged the government of India to initiate dialogue with all "stakeholders" on the agreed points of the peace talks.
State secretary, Ksh Santa of CPI(M) reminded the "recent assurance given by the Union Home Ministry" regarding prior consultation with the "stakeholders" before finalising the peace accord with the Naga groups.
He expressed hope that the government of India will keep its word by initiating the dialogue with the "stakeholders."
