MSK & DTF BBBP celebrate 'Girl Child Week' in Longleng

Longleng, August 5 (MExN): Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) along with District Task force (DTF) Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) celebrated “Girl Child Week” under the theme “empowering girls for a brighter tomorrow,” at Christian High School (CHS), Longleng on August 5.


“The main objectives of this celebration is to aware them on girl child rights and facts of life and to address the girl child issues associated to their health, respect, education, nutrition etc,” stated a press release issued by the DPRO Longleng.


The release stated that Rohbi Sangtam, EACHq. Longleng in his keynote address encouraged that girls should stand for their rights and pursue in which ever field they’re interested in. 


“Being born in a stereotype family, one may face more struggles and hurdles but in order to be successful, one should come out from these stereotype traits, set a goal and stay focused until it’s achieved,” Sangtam said.


Shiju Anthony, Headmaster CHS, in his welcome speech appreciated the DTF, BBP & MSK Longleng for organizing such programme for the girl students in their School. He asked the girl students to take such programme as an opportunity for their welfare, the release added.


Tutinungla Phom, District Coordinator, gave a brief introduction on “Girl Child Week Celebration”. WWO MSK Longleng, spoke on the importance of Girl Child Rights. Importance on Girl child issues & needs was also discussed and information on Sakhi-One Stop Centre Longleng was highlighted by Counselor Nyangyungsangla Phom.


“A special session was conducted after the programme where the where the girl students were given opportunities to explore their talent.The students presented their original songs, quotation, poem, speech etc. This was done to make one realize their potentials and take the right decision for their future career,” added the release.


It also stated that to support the initiative programme under the Scheme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, gift hamper were given to all the girl students who attended the programme. The programme was attended by DTF BBBP, High school Girls Students, teachers & the OSC team Longleng.
