Kohima, May 25 (MExN): The Mao Students’ Union Kohima (MSUK) in collaboration with the Ashikho Daili Trust Award for Academic Excellence (ADTAEE) organised the annual freshers’ day cum felicitation programme at Model Hr Sec School, Kohima on May 24.
The event was graced by Medovi Rhi, President of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) as the special guest, and Dr Lovika P Shikhu, Asst. Professor, Department of Psychology, Nagaland University as the guest speaker.
Ashikho Daili, (Patron, ADTAAE) handed over the award (Rs 30,000) along with a citation to Pikuni Pauline, rank 10, HSLC, NBSE. She is the 18th recipient of the award since its inception in 2005.
Earlier, the opening prayer was said by George Arche, Associate Pastor Youth, MBCK, followed by the presidential address from Marükho Pfozhe, President MSUK.
In a short exhortation by SP Francis, (Board member ADTAAE, and Managing Director, Model Hr Sec School) highlighted the details of the award. The event featured short speeches from Pikuni Pauline (10th rank HSLC Examination), Hriidziio Khrasi, on behalf of freshers, H Dihe Mao (President, MUK), Pfokrehrii Matekho Pekosii (President, MSU), and a special number by Komuni Piku along with a musical piece by Shuzüo and Mahairing. Krecheni Krechena, General Secretary MSUK, delivered the vote of thanks and benediction by Pfokreni Dominic, Catechist, St Peter’s Church, Kohima.
During the event, Robvii Khrasi, Pastor, MBCK said a special prayer for the freshers and student community.
In the second session, Manikho and Hriiyia were awarded with the title of Mr and Miss Freshers respectively. Motuhrii Pfotte, Kavani Hekha, and Kaihrii Henry Chisiite served as the panel of judges. The second session featured a special career talk by Dr Lovika P. Shikhu and a series of special numbers.
It may be mentioned that ADTAAE is an annual award given to NBSE HSLC rank holders from the Mao community. Notably, this year, the Trust Fund has decided to increase the award money for the rank holders as follows: Top rank 1 – Rs 1,00,000; Top 2- 10 – Rs 30,000; Top 11- 20 – Rs 20,000; Top 20 and above – Rs 10,000.
The Trust Fund has also decided to award Mao rank holders from Board of School Education Manipur (BSEM).
