Mt Everest Fashion Runway enters World Record
Aaron Akivito Sema from Nagaland represents India
Aaron Akivito Sema, 12 year old student of Livingstone Foundation International, Nagaland became the “youngest person to reach one of the highest altitudes of the world” during the Mt Everest Fashion Runway held at Kala Patthar, Mt Everest, Nepal on January 26.
Aaron Akivito Sema, show-stopper at the event displayed a placard reading “I, Aaron Akivito Sema, 12 years from Nagaland LFI can stand humbly tall at this highest altitude for the cause of climate change, why can’t you?! Let’s be the change!”
Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema and Aaron Akivito Sema from Nagaland represented India in the record making event.
A PTI report said that Nepal has set an all new Guinness World Record for the highest altitude fashion show event ever held. The Mount Everest Fashion Runway, organized by RB Diamonds and KASA Style in support of Nepal Tourism Board, was held at 5340 metres (17515 ft) elevation at Kala Patthar, near the Everest base camp on January 26. The event was part of the Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign of the Nepal Tourism Board.
Models from various parts of the world, including Finland, Italy, Sri Lanka and Singapore, participated in the show.
The main aim behind the fashion gala was to raise awareness about climate change as well as to promote sustainable fashion, a press release issued by Nepal Tourism Board on Wednesday said.
“The designs, patterns and the materials used during the Fashion show were all natural, organic and all Nepali product line from KASA. The clothing line was made of Nepali Pashmina, Felt and Yak Wool, ideal for winter wear,” it read.
The show was attended by Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and Nandini Lahe Thapa, senior director of Nepal Tourism Board, among others.
Thapa and Aashmi Rana were the witnesses along with pilot Lt. Col Pratap Bohara as technical witness for the official adjudicator of Guinness World Records.
A press release from the LFI Information Desk added that Dr Andrew Ahoto, Chairman of LFI undertook initiative of reflecting insights and thoughts on the issues of global warming, climate change, deforestation, etc by writing slogans and one liners on white boards with autographs from the international models and were displayed.
