Mount Olive College Kohima (MOCK) on Friday held its new building Dedication cum Freshers’ Social at the college auditorium with a host of invitees and dignitaries.
The dedicatory prayer was conducted by Pastor of Sumi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK), Dr. Hokheto Chophi after unveiling the plaque of the building named as “Gnosophia Building” (Knowledge and Wisdom). It may be mentioned that Mt. Olive College is sponsored and run by the SBCK.
Speaking at the programme, Chairman, Board of Deacons, SBCK, Y. Kikheto Sema IAS made a clarion call for the Churches and communities to invest in social sectors. He said SBCK established in 1925 was perhaps the oldest Church in Kohima besides the Mission Compound Church which was established by the American missionaries.
He said that SBCK was more inclined towards providing quality education and values of life through qualified faculty and proper infrastructure rather than earn profit from running the college.
Kikheto said there should be good coordination between the faculty and the students. He advised the students to seek wisdom from God to achieve success in life. He said the dedication of the new college building was another milestone and a day of huge hope for the institution.
Convenor, Building Construction Committee, MOCK, Shiwoto Wotsa presented a brief report of the construction. The 4-storied building was constructed at a cost of Rs 4.36 cr approximately.
Later, in the second session, Dr Hokheto exhorted the freshers to be the salt of the college and be a leader for tomorrow.
