Mt Tiyi declared ‘plastic free zone’

Wokha, May 26 (MExN): Ten like-minded youth from Wokha on May 25 went trekking to Mt Tiyi under the theme “green wave.”

It was initiated with a mission to clean Mt. Tiyi from plastics and to inculcate proper disposal of garbage in collaboration with the district administration.

Furthermore, it was undertaken to restrict and ban use of plastics and to declare Mt Tiyi as “plastic free zone.”

Abenthung Kikon in a press release stated the youth appreciated the Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Dr. Jeelani Samoon (IAS), SDO Civil Wokha, Chonbenthung Ezung and EAC development Toking for supporting and assisting the youth for successful trekking to free Mt Tiyi from plastics.

Four American cheese nut sponsored by Khyolamo Humtsoe was planted at the area for sheet.

The youth further sought cooperation of all denizens from Wokha district to be responsible for contributing to eco-friendly area and informed the people who visits to restrain from using plastics and use proper waste disposal to keep the mountain free from non biodegradable substances and avoid cutting down of trees as the mountain serves and act as a guardian to the people.
