MTLT demands CBI inquiry into CAG report

Mokokchung, March 21 (MExN): The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) today expressed concern at the “various anomalies and rampant corruption in various government departments” as per the CAG report for the year 2014-2015.

The MTLT in a release issued by its Media Cell also supported the statement made by ACAUT with regard to the matter. It specifically referred to the 4-point demand made by ACAUT in its press release: Immediately suspending the officials implicated/alleged on corruption in the CAG report; Immediately seizing moveable and non moveable assets of those who have been implicated in the CAG report so as to recover the funds misappropriated; Prosecuting those implicated of corruptions stringently as per the law; Considering the scale and severity of corruption the Government of Nagaland should bring in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in order to have an impartial inquiry.

The MTLT also demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry be made accordingly to convict the guilty with the resultant suspension/termination of their services.

MTLT further expressed concern that the CAG of India Report on Public Distribution System (PDS) in Nagaland shows the level of “cryptic crudity” in the Department of Food and Civil Supplies. “It is known that anomalies have been detected in this Department since 2011,” it said. Stating that it had earlier pointed out the long-drawn issues of the PDS rice scam in Mokokchung and that it was ‘just a tip of the iceberg’, MTLT demanded that all the files in the department since 2011 till date be thoroughly checked by the CBI.

The organisation also said the CAG report mentioned that “the misuse of 5069 ration cards were pointed out as issue of excess ration cards to district offices without any requisition.” The MTLT questioned whether the Nagaland government has done anything to make the corrections thereof and what constitutes the latest report on this.
