MTLT reaches out to villages in border belt

MTLT members along with the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, the President of Ao Senden and the Pastor of Mokokchung Town Baptist Arogo before the flagging off of the 4th phase of MTLT COVID-19 relief works. The 4th phase of MTLT relief works covered the villages in the Assam-Nagaland border.
 

MOKOKCHUNG, MAY 17 (MExN): The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT), as part of the COVID-19 relief work, reached out to the villages lying in the Assam-Nagaland border belt. 


This is the fourth phase of the relief work undertaken by the MTLT, informed a press release from MTLT Vice President, Merang Longkumer and Vice President, Martoshi. 


The MTLT had formed a MTLT COVID-19 Coordination Committee under the leadership of Merang Longkumer to coordinate with the district administration, the ward authorities and the stakeholders in this collective fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. 


The MTLT had understood that the border areas (Assam-Nagaland) and the villages should be looked after and also sensitized. Therefore, responding to the call of the villagers in the border areas, the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem distributed relief materials – rice, dry chilli, lentils etc – to 14 villages. 


Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Limawapang Jamir flagged off the MTLT relief team which was divided into three groups. The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the MTLT members for their initiative and the support rendered to the district administration during the nearly three months of lockdown. He assured that the government, especially the district administration, is doing its best and asked the people of Mokokchung district not to panic, to follow the COVID-19 protocols, and to reach out to each other. 


Pastor of Mokokchung Town Baptist Church, Rev Ponen Longchar invoked God’s blessings during the send off programme. President of Ao Senden, Chubawati graced the flagging-off programme of MTLT COVID-19 Coordination Committee relief works.
