
DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 28 (MExN): Noted Nagaland’s state chess player Mughaho Awomi has obtained the title of International Arbiter in the year 2023. The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has confirmed this title to the later, signed by FIDE president Arkady Dvorkovich. With this, Awomi became the first among the Nagas to obtain the title of International Arbiter.
Earlier, Awomi has been duly conferred as National Instructor, a Diploma equivalent to National Institute of Sports by All India Chess Federation (AICF) and World Chess Federation (FIDE). Mughaho has represented India at international level on various occasions. Some of his achievements include: Champion of A2H 12th All India FIDE Rating Chess Tournament at Hyderabad 2014; Champion of All India FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2011 at Jammu; Champion of 3rd Delhi Chess Challenge FIDE Rating Tournament 2010 at Delhi; Three-time Runner up in FIDE Rating Chess Tournament during the years 2012, 2013 and 2015 and also succeeded in the test (exam).
