A call for introspection
DIMAPUR, JAN 9 (MExN): Landing at Dimapur Airport today after his last visit in 2004, NSCN (I-M) General Secretary, Thuingaleng Muivah, referring to negotiations with Delhi, avowed, “We will push through to the end.” Admitting that the peace process was passing through a “tough” stage because of several issues that needed tussling, he said that they would face up to any situation.
Muivah said he told Sonia Gandhi in their recent meeting not to miscalculate the patience of the NSCN (I-M), as they had done the “best we could” but if things go out of hand, “it would be a sad thing.”
“Mr Muivah, we understand the seriousness of your case,” Muivah quoted Sonia as saying during a brief reception in his honour at the airport. Sonia is said to have told the ‘Ato Kilonser’ that the case of both sides has to be examined carefully for an “honourable and mutually acceptable solution” to be arrived at. “She was quite understandable,” Muivah said.
He reiterated that under no circumstances would the rights of the Nagas be compromised. “We will stand our ground,” he said.
Saying that he was “not shaken” because he had God with him, he told the crowd, “If God be with us who can be against us.” He asked the assemblage, who greeted him with waving Naga flags, to carry the “cause of the nation in your hearts.”
At Hebron, he told the rank and file of the NSCN (I-M), “I do not fear the Indians,” and added, “I am not fighting a wrong war.” He asked them not to harbour doubt, fear and confusion in their hearts, but to seek true understanding of the Naga issue from the divine, as “a people without decision is a lost people.” Honouring the members of his organization for sacrificing their lives to the cause, he asked them to be prepared for any eventuality and to be decisive in the cause of the nation.
Calling for serious introspection, Muivah said that only the “sins and weaknesses of the NSCN will pull us down.” He emphasized on the urgency for repentance and remedial steps. The Ato Kilonser also released the newly launched monthly news bulletin titled “Nagalim Voice’, published by the MIP of the GPRN.
