NSCN (IM) General Secretary Th. Muivah on his arrival at New Delhi believed that the Prime Minister of India was serious enough and he hoped that both sides would be able to make a breakthrough and save the course of the peace process. Muivah expressed gratitude to Manmahon Singh for his warm and earnest invitation extended to the Collective Leadership to come to India. “You know this is an inspiration to us. Why? When the talk is tough enough now he has invited us to come to India. It shows that he has serious concern for the issue and he doesn’t want that the issue goes; I mean, go out of hand. We appreciate his seriousness and we shall respect it all the time”, Muivah said in a statement issued after his arrival from Amsterdam.

Pointing out NSCN (IM) had been engaged in serious negotiation for a long time now, Muivah said that “things are clear to us and we have done all that we could, take bold and positive steps even”. “Now, we have to seriously tell everyone that the present state of affairs does not permit even the Indians or ourselves to move any forward through pretension. No, that is not possible”, Muivah stated.

Stating that it was time for the Government of India also to be serious, called for taking steps and moving along. “We believe Government of India and the Nagas can reach the end of the road if we sincerely move basing on the uniqueness of the case, the issue. That is the way. In other words if both the Government of India and the Nagas can muscle up courage to acknowledge the reality of each other, we are sure, we are sure, we will see light in the end of the day and it is what we have been persuaded of”, Muivah stated.

Sounding a note of caution though, the NSCN (IM) General Secretary stated that “if anything, however, in spite of our utmost efforts, the worst is in pending, then, we stand on ground. Here in the ground, we take the stand we take. That is solution. That is honorable. Our dignity, for both India and the Nagas”.

Pointing out that as long as one is “persuaded of the truth we know and the right of ours, there is no point for any Naga to fear anyone”. “Remember, and let us not forget we have our rights; we have our homes; we have our everything. We don’t ask anything from anyone but what is ours we must have it! That is our right!” Muivah asserted.
