A Multi-Utility Outdoor Stadium was dedicated near Impur junction, Sungratsü village, Mokokchung by Keihungle, wife of late Dr Imtiwapang Aier, Former NLA on April 29.
Nungsangenba Longchar, Complex Committee member in his report informed that the Sungratsü Sports Complex commenced through a resolution passed by the Sungratsü Senso Mungdang in 2000. After MoU was signed with the land donors on May 2001 earth moving and leveling was carried out which was purely funded by donations from Sungratsu Village Council and well-wishers with an estimate cost of INR 20, 39, 000.
The Sungratsü Sports Complex was inaugurated on May 2011 by former MLA Nungsangyapang, he added. As such, physical infrastructures (Multi-Utility Outdoor Stadium) in the complex were initiated by Dr Imtiwapang Aier which was funded under North Eastern Council and implemented by RMSA.
Keihungle in her address said that her late husband was very enthusiastic for the development of Multi-Utility Outdoor Stadium at Sungratsü Sports Complex because he believed that the complex will bear fruit for the people in future days to come.
She also acknowledged the unity of the people of Sungratsü to self-fund the construction of Sungratsü Sports Complex and said, ‘the unity projected by the people should be a continuous process.’
“I believe in the long run the complex will not only felicitate sports activities and grooming of sportspersons but also provide income generation avenues for the downtrodden people during various events held in the complex,” she said.
Earlier, dedicatory prayer was pronounced by I Kilen Longchar Pastor, Sungratsü Baptist Church while Lemasashi Ozukum, President, Sungratsü Senso Mungdang and C Wati Walling Convener Tourism & Ground Committee also spoke at the event.
