Multi-village agri, horticulture projects announced at ZAPO Conference

The Zunheboto Area Public Organization (ZAPO) concluded its 4th biennial conference at Lizu New Village in Zunheboto. The event was hosted by the GB of Lizu New Village, including Zhekiye Zhimomi (Head GB), Zhehuto Zhimo, Nikheshe Zhimo, Lukhevi Zhimo, and Ghovishe Zhimo.

The special guest for the occasion, K Tokugha Sukhalu, IAS (Rtd), MLA & Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies, LMCP, and Chairman of the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) & Village Council, Government of Nagaland, announced several upcoming projects for the district. These projects include agricultural initiatives under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) for the cluster villages of Asukomi, Natha New, Kawato, Sukhalu, and Lochomi.

In addition, Sukhalu highlighted the Department of Soil and Water Conservation's comprehensive sustainable land development project, which will benefit selected villages such as Lizumi, Asukomi, Lochomi, and Natha Old.

Horticultural Rural market at Lizu Village and Construction of Primary Processing Unit at Lizu Old, “I found that whatever the vegetables we Zunheboto people are consuming is all grown from the Lizu Villages”.

He urged the villagers to take up these projects with utmost priority and dedication and with thorough transparency and make these projects successful so that it will be helpful for the other villages as well. “If this Project is successful in your village it will move to other villages as well but if it fails it will stop and at the end it is you who will suffer”.

He encouraged the villagers to utilize the place that we have rather than going here and there searching for livelihood.
