Multispecialty, cancer screening camp held at Khonoma PHC

A multispecialty and cancer screening camp was conducted at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Khonoma village on May 24.

Kohima, May 25 (MExN): A multispecialty and cancer screening camp was conducted at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Khonoma village on May 24, registering 145 patients and providing 372 free consultations across various specialities, organisers said.

The camp also facilitated 133 free cancer screenings for oral and cervical cancer, along with 12 minor surgical and dental procedures, free medicines and spectacles.

According to a statement issued here, the consultations covered obstetrics, gynaecology, ophthalmology, general medicine, surgery, dental care, blood tests and ultrasonography.

The programme began with a welcome address and introduction of the medical team by Dr Keviyani Chücha, Medical Officer of Khonoma PHC. This was followed by a talk on Oral Health and Cancer Awareness delivered by Dr Neiphrezo Sorünuo, Dental Surgeon at NHAK.

A total of 34 medical personnel participated in the camp, including seven doctors from Putuonuo Hospital, NIMSR and NHAK, 20 paramedics from Putuonuo Hospital, five social workers from Dr K&T Keditsu Foundation, and all staff of Khonoma PHC. The vote of thanks was proposed by Aselie Punyü, VCC Khonoma.

The camp was organised by the Dr K & T Keditsu Foundation – a registered public charitable trust founded in 2016 – in collaboration with the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) under the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland. The initiative also received support from Biocon Foundation, Bengaluru, and Putuonuo Hospital, Kohima.
