Mungmung festival celebrated in Tuensang

TUENSANG, SEPTEMBER 5 (MExN): The Mungmung festival was celebrated in Tuensang on Thursday with Yangdipi Sangtam, First Class Contractor as the Guest of Honour. The event was chaired by Vidila, Assistant Professor at Sao Chang College, Tuensang, and Yangtipi T.

The program opened with an invocation by R Akhum, Pastor of SBL. A special performance by college students, led by the SSU President, was followed by a presentation on the significance of Mungmung by Rangthen.

Short speeches were delivered by Z AncheesOdyuo, NPS, 3rd NAP; Shri H Yanchu Chang, Sakai NAP Ward Tuensang; President of Chang Union Saksi; President of Khiamniungan Union Saksi; President of Yimkhiung Union Saksi; President of Ao Union Sakai; and Hojungchum, GB Saksi NAP Sector. 

The Heri Cultural Club Saksi performed a folk song. Guest of Honour, Yangdipi Sangtam, addressed the gathering, stating that, “Mungmung is more than just a festival; it embodies our rich heritage and the unity that defines our community. As we celebrate today, we are reminded of the importance of preserving our traditions and passing them on to future generations, for our culture is our identity. In the face of modernization, it is crucial to honor our roots while embracing the future, and events like these reflect our commitment to togetherness, respect, and shared purpose.” 

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Yangtsipi, President of Sangtam Union, Saksi, and a benediction by Tsasepi.
