Mungri 2025 concludes at Zisaji College, Kiphire

Kiphire, November  2 (MExN):  Mungri 2025, the five-day College Week of Zisaji Presidency College (ZPC), Kiphire, held under the theme “Unleashing Brilliance,” concluded with Blue House emerging as the overall champion of the first edition of the event.

The fest opened on October 28 with an inaugural session graced by Longdiba L Sangtam, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, as special guest. 

Declaring the event open, he urged students to value culture, seize opportunities through innovation, and develop essential soft skills to forge their own paths.

The ADC further noted that thinking out of the box is expected from the young generation. He also appreciated the efforts of the faculty, noting ZPC’s role as the lone college in the district  Principal, Dr Pyobenthung, in his opening remark, highlighted the essence of ‘Mungri’ is derived from the Sangtam language  meaning ‘confluence’ or ‘convergence’ and represent the merging of activities and learning experiences into a unified educational journey.

The inaugural also witnessed the presentation of the Governor’s Award for the academic session 2024–25 to Khiavito (Economics) and Ridangla P Sangtam (Political Science), while the Helen Jamir Award (English) was conferred upon Leishnaw Tikhir.

Performances by Voice of the Hill, a duet, ethnic show, and other cultural items featured during the session.  The first day was also observed as Cultural Day. 

The second day was observed as Literary Day on October 29, during which reigning ‘Miss Kiphire 2025,’ Tsurenshe L, graced the final session and delivered an address on the theme “Safe Minds, Strong Hearts.” 

She spoke on mental health, calling for breaking stigma and silence around issues such as anxiety and depression and reminded that ‘it is okay not to be okay,’ encouraging openness and self-care.

The day featured literary competitions including essay, poem recitation, quiz, photography, declamation, debate, college anthem competition, and ‘ZPC Got Talent,’ showcasing diverse student talent. 

The remaining three days of Mungri 2025 were devoted to sports activities, including competitions in football, volleyball, high jump, arm wrestling and other track and field events.  As per an update from ZPC, the fest concluded with Blue House clinching the overall champion title.
