Murder case ends in compromise and forgiveness

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 22 (MExN): The Chen Area Union, Kohima, relates that on October 14, 2008, a woman named Savi Tsuka had been hit and killed by the rash driving of one Wanyem Konyak, who was remanded to police custody. In relation to this case, the Vimetsei clan and Chen Area Union Kohima had held a series of meetings in Tsera Hall, Kohima village. However, the matter could not be settled since it was a murder case.

After several rounds of talks, however, the case was amicably settled on December 20  in good faith, the Union states, adding that the culprit Wanyem had confessed his misdeed in the presence of the deceased’s family, the Vimetsei clan member youth organization of Lower Khel and the Chen Area Union Kohima. The press release stated that Wanyem sought forgiveness and on behalf of the victim’s family, one Nguneizo had declared unconditional forgiveness to him.

The press release issued by the president of Chen Area Union Kohima therefore expressed appreciation for the broadmindedness and show of maturity of the clan leaders, village council chairman, High School area Panchayat chairman, youth organization leaders and all well-wishers. The union added that the solving of such a serious case was due to divine intervention which would serve as a very good example for all Naga brothers and sisters for learning to live in peace and harmony in the society. The Chen Area Union of Kohima also sought to convey heartfelt condolence to the deceased’s family while uttering prayers that the victim’s soul rest in peace.
