DIMAPUR, JUNE 29 (MExN): ‘Altrura Society’, a Chumukedima based NGO inaugurated its office at Chumukedima Ward -4 (Saturday Weekly Bazar) on Saturday with chief engineer PHED, Er. Kevisekho Kruse as the chief guest.

The chief guest in his address said that of late there has been mushrooming of societies and NGOs in the state and while some Societies and NGOs are committed and dedicated in their respective mission and field, many NGOs seek only after fund and exist in name only.

Noting the first humanitarian service undertaken by the nascent Altrura Society in the form of blood donation held earlier, Er. Kruse lauded the society for a good beginning and reminded the society members of the Chinese adage “A journey of thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Dwelling on the employment scenario vis-à-vis government employment in Nagaland, Er. Kruse said most educated Naga youths seek only white collar jobs or government jobs and do not think of other employment avenues, either in private sector or self-employment.

He said in Nagaland, government employment has already reached saturation point and the state is constantly facing financial crunch as 65% of the state’s expenditure goes to salary component.

Er. Kruse said it was high time that societies and NGOs come up with employment alternatives and means of sustenance to the vast educated unemployed Naga youths. He expressed optimism that Altrura Society comprising of educated youths would offer ray of hope in this direction.

Vice president, Altrura Society, Ketousilie Meru, delivered the keynote address. The programme chaired by the society’s advisor, Mhasileto Medoze, began with dedicatory prayer offered by Rev. Lhouzoviu Shuya, pastor Chumukedima Village Baptist Church.

Altrura Society president, Megosielie, informed that the society was formed by like-minded volunteers hailing from different villages under Chumukedima area. The main objective behind formation of the society is “charitable services to the needy people by channelizing the youth energy to constructive and useful endeavour.
