Morung Express News Jalukie | December 11 Sounds of music and merriment heralded the festive season in Jalukie Town with the ‘Musical Night’ organized by the Njauna Students’ Union (NSU) in the heart of Jalukie Town on December 10 night. Masangum Heikha, PS to the Chief Minister who graced the Musical Night as chief guest, in his address said 2016 has been a year of blessing to citizens of Jalukie Town as the town recently celebrated its golden jubilee. He said jubilee is a time to forgive one another, bury past hatchet and look forward to the coming New Year with hope and jubilation. Extending greetings to the Njauna Students’ Union (NSU) on their upcoming golden jubilee celebration, Masangum termed Njauna Village as one of the most peaceful villages in Peren district with no boundary disputes or conflicts with neighbouring villages. He also said people from Njauna are peace-loving, hard working and enterprising. He said since students and youth are the leaders of tomorrow, NSU should strive to achieve greater heights as they prepare to celebrate 50 years of existence. “Don’t only dream of becoming somebody. But if you have a dream, start acting and do something to become that somebody,” he said. And in order to achieve or do something, one has to be happy and healthy, mentally and physically, he added. Masangum also termed “jealousy” as the bane of Naga society, while maintaining jealousy is an ailment which cannot be cured by any medicine but can only be removed from the mind. A host of Zeliang artists and musicians including Nangkamlak Pame, Kitopungle, Angeule Zeliang, Nemdeiching and Pezet Newme entertained the audience with contemporary songs and old hits. The free-will donation received from the musical event will go towards funding of the upcoming golden jubilee celebration of NSU. Earlier, administrator of St. Xavier’s College Jalukie, Rev. Fr. Shaji Mathew, invoked God’s blessings and NSU president, Inrei Namrei, gave a brief history of NSU.
