‘Musik-A’ Alobo Naga School of Music inaugurated

Morung Express News Dimapur | June 18   A new music school called ‘Musik-A’ Alobo Naga School of Music was inaugurated on Friday in Dimapur opposite Chekiye Village Gate, NH-2, with Nagaland minister for Roads & Bridges, Y Vikheho Swu, as the chief guest.   A host of special guests and invitees including Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports and Music Task Force (MTF), Khreihu Liezetsu, director MTF, Gugs Chishi, famed Naga singer Methanelie Jutakhrie and other Naga musicians also graced the inauguration.  

The R&B minister in his address said Filipinos are dominating the music scene and industry in Asia. Vikheho said though Nagas have better accent and voice, yet their musical talent and potentials have not been fully exploited. Congratulating Alobo Naga for opening the music school, he expressed optimism that the school would groom and train young and upcoming Naga musicians. The minster at the same time reminded that Nagas need to shed off the casual attitude and improve management if they want to succeed in any venture.   Khreihu Liezetsu said the state-of-the-art music school would cater to the needs of aspiring Naga musicians and also expressed confidence that even students from outside the state would come and learn from the school.   Proprietor of the school, Alobo Naga, in his introductory note said that after three years of dreaming to open a music school, this dream has at last materialized. The noted Naga musician said his music school would provide something different from usual music schools. The school will offer courses in Indian Classical and Bollywood music, Naga folk songs and indigenous music, contemporary Western music, Church music, audio engineering, artiste management and dance classes. Alobo said the school would also serve as a meeting point for all Naga musicians and music lovers to share ideas and dreams.   On the occasion, Methanelie Jutakhrie, also sang his latest single, which is also the theme song of ACAUT. The ‘A’ in Musik –A mean ‘place’ in Sumi dialect.
