Musings on the just concluded Naga Reconciliation meet

At the outset, I would like to appreciate the FNR for their steadfast faith in God Jehovah to bring the Nagas together as a family and in the wisdom of the Naga leaders to forgive and forget the real and imagined wrongs done to each other in the name of the Cause.

I, just a common public was relieved and happy because almost every Naga Underground leader in the Meet   spoke about forgiveness and unity and to face the future as one, and  as brothers. But as I sat and listened and listened, the more it became apparent to me that all the Underground leaders subtly or willfully wanted us to endorse the watered down version of what they had actually started out to fight for with bogus and ambiguous phrases.

Integration, Sovereignty, Independence is impossible, they all said. Then what is it we are fighting for? Don’t we already have what i can guess it to be, albeit with a little more concession? Has the Ceasefire done in less than twenty years  what the mighty Indian war machine could not do for more than forty years ? Crushed our patriotic fervor that we don’t care as long as we are relieved of the burden of the burden of the Cause. Isn’t sacrificing our life considered heroic or patriotic anymore? Aren’t we having a leadership crisis here? Aren’t the leaders losing their vision (and whats a leader without a vision). Do they think they have suffered enough that they think its time to reap their rewards? Maybe im just being a naïve and innocent youth who doesn’t know the first thing about whats really going on and would flee at the first sight of a gun, but when battle hardened, courageous, heroic leader starts thinking like me, then I think its time for them to step down gracefully and pave the way for bolder and more passionate people willing to sacrifice more for the Cause. Don’t cling on to your position if you don’t have the heart to fight for what is yours, to stand up for your birthright. The reasons for all the different factions and its resultant bloodshed is all because of your incompetency and selfish lust for power and position and their blood rests on your heads. the reason for all the extortions, daylight robbery and senseless killings is because of you. If the present leaders don’t have the political acumen to negotiate the labyrinthine corridor of the Indian political system and their malicious and manipulative ways, then I say we should head back to he jungle where we fight best ( But what will leaders living in palatial palaces, driving around I luxurious SUVs and sedans would want to leave all this and want to go back to the jungle where they should originally belong)? In short, you the present Underground leaders have lost your vision and the moral right to lead us. So step down.
