
Regional workshop cum launch of special outreach programme conducted
Kohima, June 25 (MExN): The Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (N&M Region) organized a one-day regional workshop cum launch of special outreach programme to highlight the two years achievement of the Government of India under the theme ‘My Country is changing – Marching forward’ at the conference hall of the Circuit House in Kohima on June 25.
Speaking at the programme as the chief guest, RM Patel, Director of Postal Services, Department of Post, Kohima said that the role of Service providing Department, such as DFP, Postal department and other similar department, are vital in ensuring the success of any government welfare schemes. Service providing departments act as a bridge between people and government schemes, he said.
Pointing out that the central government has launched various schemes to cater to different sections of society including women and farmers he exhorted DFP to create meaningful publicity so that the needy and the eligible beneficiaries are empowered.
In his speech, Dr. H.P. Singh, Principal Modern College, who was Guest of honour, underscored the need to empower youth with skills in order to meet the challenges of growing unemployment and poverty. Maintaining that the majority of the India’s population constitute between the age brackets of 20 to 40 years, he said that the need of the hour is to trained youth in various fields through skill development programmes. The centre is acting towards the right direction by launching the skill India scheme, he added.
Addressing the gathering as the president of the function, Dominic Yazokie, Joint Director, DIPR, said that though information and publicity departments may not perform any tangible or physical development, their role is equally important as it empowers the common people with information and knowledge. He said that DFP and other similar media departments are agents of knowledge wherein their contribution is mental and intellectual.
In his keynote address, Dr. Engam Pame, IIS, Director DFP (Nagaland and Manipur) region, said that through valuable inputs from resource persons on various subjects and relevant themes, the workshop will effectively equip and educate field officers. He informed that DFP will be reaching out to the people living at the grass root and micro level by carrying out intensive awareness campaign on the two years achievement of the central government in two states of Nagaland and Manipur region.
During the technical session, resource persons, Zubemo Lotha, Assistant Director, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Daniel Domeh, System Administrator Department of Postal Services, Bino, District welfare officer, department of social welfare presented an overview of their respective Departments and deliberated on the various central government schemes. The resource persons also answered queries of the gathering.
