What a great feeling that we are living in a stage where this whole world has become a global village. What we see on television sets, read in the news papers or internet is able to come right to our doorstep in the next few days. But unfortunately, back home, in the magic land of festivals many things which we could have had are still just dreams.
Beginning with the basics, what we need are just proper roads, regular electricity, hospital where Doctors, Nurses & lab technicians are performing their respective duties efficiently (with total commitment). In fact, there are many more if we are to name, but at least if our government has been able to provide those which are mentioned, this beautiful land of ours could have soared to an unimaginable level. In fact, in the recent past we have been seeing a lot of community participation in various activities for social uplift. If the government had been honest enough, Nagaland could have been a truly amazing state by now.
On the other hand, the houses & buildings that the VIPs and bureaucrats are constructing are totally mind boggling. (I mean) From where have you gathered (all such) wealth as to acquire all these? I don’t claim to know all your sources of income, but certainly, whatever position one may be in the government service, one’s salary can’t really allow anybody go for them. Your greed and gratification for more and more land, cars, buildings etc seems to know no bounds. You send all your children to the best institutions in the region or country or even abroad so that they get the best education. But back home, the institutions in your constituencies (All over Nagaland) are finding hard even to survive and for that matter some are even dying because most of the teachers posted there don’t even see the school. Many poor parents are either stopping their children from schooling or sacrificing their food, clothes and medicines for the sake of the children’s education by sending them to the towns. I tell you, the cry of the people have reached God and He will meet you; all that you have gathered for yourselves today will not be able to save you on that day; not your lands, buildings, guns, cars, money, your strong men etc. In fact, in time of trouble no one will be able to rescue you and within the wall of your highly fortified Alcatraz kind of buildings you will certainly be doomed. You yourselves have alienated from the people. The tears from your eyes will go into your own mouth.
Remember, our dear Naga politicians, when you appeared before the people, you pledged to give and now when God and people gave to you the position, instead of giving and comforting, you’ve started to take away even what belonged to the people and among them some are even orphans and widows. In case, if you are elected again do not forget that people have elected you so that you will bring positive changes to the society, not just to satisfy the ugly desires of few selfish individuals.
I for one can’t remain silent where my people and your people are dying silently everyday hoping for a better future. For God’s sake remember this: many might have taken money from you for their votes but there are even much more who cast their votes in favour of you hoping that you would be Heaven’s sent to bring positive changes and build the broken structures of our Naga society. I totally respect and salute those who have done their best and proven faithful to the people. (I also pledge my total allegiance to you even with my Universal Adult Franchise). The upright God is also always with them and they shall prosper in all that they do.
My dear Nagas, general for the next Nagaland Legislative Assembly is just round the corner, Let us be very careful in choosing our REPRESENRATIVES because, whatever is to be done is up to our leaders (representatives). If this is going to make any sense let me say this ‘We should also stop taking money from the candidates because we want development’.
“A person is a public leader when one gives what one has and not when one takes”.
