Dimapur, April 23 (MExN): Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting & Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairying, Dr L Murugan on April 23 said that his notion about Nagaland has changed after his three-day visit to the State.
During a brief interaction with DPRO Dimapur before departure on Sunday, Dr Murugan admitted that before coming he projected Nagaland to be an ‘under-developed State’ but his perception was altered after visiting several parts of the State.
"Nagaland is developed and modernised,” he reportedly commented during the interaction, as per a release from the DPRO.
The Union Minister also observed that piggery and fishery sectors have “very high scope in Nagaland and asked the concern departments for sending proposals focusing on uplifting the entrepreneurs, it said.
Dr Murugan tagged Nagaland as a beautiful place with rich cultural traditions and assured that he would definitely come back to the State during the Hornbill Festival, it added.
The MoS landed for his maiden visit to Nagaland on April 21 and departed on Sunday. Among others, he made history by visiting Avangkhu village on April 22 and became the first Union Minister to visit India’s first village on the Indo-Myanmar border in Phek district.
