Dimapur, July 7 (MExN): The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) hosted the NAAC Peer Team on July 5 and 6. The Peer Team included Chairman Prof. Dr. Vasant Shinde, Professor and Vice-Chancellor of Deccan College, Post-Graduate and Research Institute, Deemed University, Pune; Prof. Dr. Jayant Sonwalkar, Former Vice-Chancellor of M.P. Bhoj Open University, Bhopal; and Dr. Nilesh Narayanrao Gawande, Principal of Late B S Arts Prof N G Science and A G Commerce College, Sakharkherda, Maharashtra.

During the exit meeting, Prof. Dr. Vasant Shinde expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the NAAC preparation. “Adhering to NAAC guidelines is crucial for the growth and development of the institute,” Dr. Shinde stated, emphasizing their role in understanding and addressing various challenges. He highlighted the significance of teamwork and social work in promoting welfare and rights, encouraging attendees to apply their knowledge for the institute’s prosperity.

Dr. Shinde appreciated NEISSR’s initiative in starting Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies specialization and stressed the need for developing region-focused research projects. “The institute’s infrastructure, facilities, green campus, the smartness of the students, alumni contributions, and the leadership of the principal and the team are commendable,” he remarked. Dr. Shinde concluded with best wishes for the institute’s future endeavors and formally handed the NAAC confidential report to Dr. Fr. C.P. Anto, Principal of NEISSR.

The exit meeting began with an introduction of the Peer Team by Bokatoli Kinimi, Assistant Professor at NEISSR, followed by an invocation prayer led by Fr. Matthew Thunaimpral, Governing Board Member. Fr. G.L. Khing, Vice Principal of NEISSR, welcomed the gathering. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Toli H. Kiba, IQAC Coordinator and Assistant Professor at NEISSR. A cultural program showcasing the diverse cultures of North East India highlighted the first day of the visit.

The event saw attendance from officials of Nagaland University, government officials, representatives from the Directorate of Higher and Technical Department, Government of Nagaland, NEISSR governing board members, alumni, parents, philanthropists, and other stakeholders. NEISSR extended its gratitude to the Bishop, fathers, sisters, and laity of the Kohima Diocese, as well as several colleges for their guidance towards NAAC preparation.
