Kohima, March 8 (MExN): The Nagaland Association for Adventure Mountaineering and Education (NAAME), the facilitating NGO for the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) in Kohima district, organised an event to commemorate International Women’s Day-cum-block level sports at Zisunyu village in Tseminyu district on March 7.
The programme was held in collaboration with Tseminyu and Chunlika blocks under the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM), with support from My Bharat, Tseminyu, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The event aimed to celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of women in society in diverse areas such as agriculture, livelihood, institutional building, leadership, environmental protection and community development.
More than 40 self-help group (SHG) members participated in the programme and took part in various sports and fun activities.
Meanwhile, NAAME had earlier organised a district-level sports event — an open penalty shootout tournament exclusively for Tseminyu district — at New Terogvunyu village on February 13.
The tournament, aimed at fostering community engagement towards environmental protection and conservation, saw participation from 18 teams.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Terogvunyu Youth Organisation (TYO) and supported by My Bharat, Tseminyu, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The tournament was flagged off by Yhuntilo Kent, Range Forest Officer (RFO), Tseminyu.
