Nagaland Regional Office reiterates commitment towards sustainable growth

Dimapur, July 16 (MExN): National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) celebrated 39 years of service to the nation on July 12. To commemorate the foundation day, a programme was organized by the Regional Office of NABARD at Dimapur on July 16.

A press release issued by the Regional Office stated that Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation, Nagaland G Kaito Aye, graced the function as chief guest. In his address, the Kaito thanked the staff of NABARD for their unstinted support to the State Government and various agencies for the development of the people of Nagaland. He exhorted NABARD, banks, NGOs and government departments to work together so that progress of development in all spheres could be accelerated. 

Tiakala Ao, GM/OIC of NABARD, Nagaland Regional Office outlined NABARD's journey since its establishment in 1982 and highlighted major milestones of the Bank over the past four decades touching on the interventions supported by NABARD in the state of Nagaland.

While acknowledging the role of various stakeholders in the development journey, she reiterated NABARD’s commitment towards sustainable growth and called upon all stakeholders to work with renewed focus in achieving the priorities set for a meaningful rural development.

Major highlights of the programme were release of two booklets at the hands of the Minister viz., handbook on Rural Infrastructure Development Fund for implementing departments of the Government of Nagaland and Unit Cost for farm sector activities for the year 2021-22. 

Minister Kaito also launched the scheme of Comprehensive Support Plan for Cooperatives in which, Rs 99.08 lakh was sanctioned to the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd (NStCB) from NABARD's Cooperative Development Fund. He handed over the sanction letter to Abhijit Deb, Managing Director, Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd. 

Later, the Minister also flagged off the mobile ATM Van procured by the NStCB under NABARD's Financial Inclusion Fund. AK Deb, MD of NStCB and P Bulte, DGM of NABARD also spoke on the occasion. A Hembram, SLBC Convenor, VV Narayana, Chairman, NRB, representatives of banks and NGOs also attended the programme.
