Longjang, July 14 (MExN): To commemorate NABARD’s Foundation Day, a one day Financial Literacy Awareness Programme (FLAP) supported under FIF managed by NABARD was conducted at Longjang village on July 12. Sponsored by NABARD, it was organized by Care and Support Society, Mokokchung in collaboration with Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd.
The programme was chaired by Imchawati Kichu, Managing Director, Care and Support Society, who also shared the role of the NGO in the area and various activities done by them.
The objectives of the programme were delivered by S. Amarjit Mangang, DDM, NABARD Mokokchung. He highlighted about coping with distress, i.e., crop failures, conversion of loan, importance of income from supplementary activities like dairy, sheep/ goat/ piggery rearing and importance of water conservation.
Temsulepden, Assistant Manager and in charge of FLC, NSCB Ltd, Mokokchung, shared the importance of banking, savings, financial planning. He pointed out the benefits under PMJDY, PMSBY, PMJJBY, APY and PM Fasal Bima Yojana. The Assistant Manager also highlighted various loan products, i.e., KCC Interest Subvention and benefits of timely repayment.
K Basa village
Financial Literacy Awareness Programme (FLAP) was also conducted at K. Basa village on July 12. It was organised by Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) with the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd. Pfutsero Branch in coordination with NABARD district office, Phek.
During the Programme, Imsunaro, DDM NABARD highlighted the objectives of the programme and discussed on importance of banking, savings, financial planning, credit link, subsidy schemes, JLG etc. Luidi Zeliang, ABM NStCB deliberated on banking products available and also shared on the benefits of PMJDY and various GOI pension/insurance schemes and loan products. Role of NGO was deliberated by Vechulo-u Kanuo, Executive Director, CWWS. Altogether, 80 participants attended the programme.
Chiechama village
The Nagaland State Co-operative Bank Ltd (NStCB), Kohima Main Branch organized financial literacy camp cum banking services programme in collaboration with Nagaland State Social Welfare Broad and State Resource Centre for Women at Chiechama village on July 12.
The program, organised to facilitate and educate the rural poor farmers on the banking activities and facilities available with the bank, was supported under FIF managed by NABARD, according to a press release.
S. Kevi Hibo, NStCB Assistant Branch Manager & I/C Nodal Centre Kohima spoke on the financial inclusion policy launched by the Government of India. Hibo impressed upon the public to bank with NStCB Ltd as its primary objective is to uplift the economy of the rural poor farmers. Since majority of the rural farmers are financially excluded, such camps are conducted to propagate the mission and to financially include those folks who are deprived of banking knowledge, Kevi added.
Bendang Aier, Assistant General Manager, NABARD dwelt on bank linkage and its functioning by JLG, SHG, DEDS & PMFBY, financial planning, Stand Up India. The participants were also encouraged to inculcate habit of saving. Victor, BM, NRB highlighted social security, life insurance, and pension schemes such as PMJJBY, PMSBY & APY. Asalie Kruse, Programme Manager, NSSWB challenged the participants to positively utilize the knowledge they have acquired from the camp, while Visekolie Khate, call responder, spoke on the importance of helpline 181. Women in distress can access the service through calls, texts and internet free of telecom services.
The programme was attended by VCMs, VDBs, SHGs, GBs, students’ union and general public of the village.
Chuchuyimpang Village
To promote the cause of financial literacy and inclusion, a one day Financial Literacy Camp (FLC) supported under FIF managed by NABARD was conducted at Chuchuyimpang, Mokokchung district on July 13 organized by Care and Support Society, Mokokchung in collaboration with Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd sponsored by NABARD. The programme was chaired by Imchawati Kichu, Managing Director, Care and Support Society, welcome address was addressed by Imnazulu chairman Chuchuyimpang Village council.
During the programme, S. Amarjit Mangang, DDM, NABARD informed the villagers about the objectives and significance of financial inclusion. He highlighted the role played by NABARD in financial inclusion programme. He further shared in detail the Farmers Club, SHG and JLG, KCC, WCC programme and role of NABARD in creating infrastructure in the district. He also highlighted in brief about the ‘Stand Up India’ scheme.
