• Launches two new livelihood projects
Kohima, July 9 (MExN): To commemorate the 39th Foundation Day of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), the Nagaland Chief Secretary, T Temjen Toy, IAS inaugurated two mobile ATM vans and 25 micro ATM machines at a brief function held in Civil Secretariat, Kohima on July 9.
The ATM vans and machines were sanctioned by NABARD under its Financial Inclusion Fund.
Two booklets titled ‘NABARD in Nagaland 2019-20’ and ‘Unit Costs of Major Agriculture & Allied Activities in Nagaland for 2020-21’ prepared by NABARD were also launched by Toy. He lauded the multi-farious activities and initiatives of NABARD in Nagaland and expressed hope of seeing the same level of focussed attention to the state from NABARD in the years to come.
NABARD, General Manager, L Leivang briefly shared about NABARD’s growth trajectory and its support for farmers, SHGs, FPOs and weavers in Nagaland.
Two new livelihood projects to benefit 200 rural households each in Wakching, Mon and Amahator, Kiphire districts under NABARD’s Tribal Development Fund were also announced. These projects will be implemented by Eleutheros Christian Society and Better Life Foundation respectively during a 6 year period.
Rev Chingmak Chang of Eleutheros Christian Society spoke about a farm based project to maximize incomes of 5000 rural families in Tuensang through crowd funding approach along with NABARD, etc. Sethrichem Sangtam of Better Life Foundation also spoke about the livelihood project supported by NABARD.
V Kezo, Special Secretary (Finance), Taliremba Ao, OSD (Finance), K Lea, Vice Chairman, MD & senior officials of NStCB Ltd, Meitei, Chairman of NRB & officials of NABARD, Nagaland Regional Office participated in the commemoration programme.
