Dimapur, December 8 (MExN): NABARD Nagaland Regional Office organized the State Credit Seminar 2020-21 at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur on December 8 where Minister for Agriculture & Coop, Government of Nagaland G Kaito Aye, launched the State Focus Paper for 2021-22.
A press note stated that others present during the event were Y Kikheto Sema, IAS, APC & Commissioner & Secretary, Government of Nagaland, L Leivang, GM/OIC, NABARD and Thony Pau, AGM, SBI Dimapur. Officials of Line Departments, Bankers, NGOs, SHGs & JLGs participated in the seminar.
Minister Kaito in his keynote address spelt out the State Government plans for support to farmers and called upon all Banks to enhance Ground level credit flow in Nagaland.
APC Kikheto emphasized the role of banks for successful implementation of Agri Infrastructure Fund Scheme and exhorted banks to implement the scheme as per the bank wise target allocated.
Thony Pau, AGM, SBI Dimapur presented the scope and challenges of Priority Sector lending in Nagaland. He highlighted the need for SARFAESI Act in the State but at the same time encouraged banks to proactively seek out opportunities to finance agriculture loans.
Other speakers included Rev Chingmak Chang from Eleutheros Christian Society, Tuensang who briefed the house about a mega convergence project for mitigating food and nutritional insecurity under NABARD’s FSPF Fund.
S Sangtam, from Better Life Foundation presented the need for collectivization of farmers through FPO and the issues in credit linkage. K Jianthailung, Branch Manager, NEDFi informed the house about their initiatives in the State.
On the occasion, NABARD also presented awards to the best performing SHGs (Nzanro SHG from Wokha and Akivimuqo SHG from Dimapur), JLGs (Brotherhood, Dimapur and Seyie Chümoukedima) and the bank branches for SHG/JLG promotion in the State. The 1st and 2nd best performing bank branch in financing SHGs was bagged by NStCB Dimapur main branch and SBI Jalukie branch.
