Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): A total of 15 paper presenters delivered their research findings on Finance & Banking and Marketing & Entrepreneurship during a national seminar on the ‘Prospects and Challenges of Inclusive Growth in North East Region with special focus on Agripreneurship’ at C-Edge College on October 21.

The seminar was sponsored by NABARD and organised by the Department of Economics & Department of Management Studies, C-Edge College in collaboration with the Department of Economics, Unity College, Dimapur. 

According to a press release received here on Sunday, Principal of C-Edge College Dr Chubatola Aier emphasised that the focus on the area of agriculture is vital as it is gathering another level of urgency for development. 

Under such circumstances, unless the academicians, researchers, experts who study the trends, understand the issues at hand and are able to translate the knowledge and findings into actual action and production, it would honestly mean just that much academic talk and resources consumed without the harvest, she said.

The keynote speaker at the inaugural programme, Dr S Prakash, Associate Professor of Sri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, started with the introduction to ‘entrepreneur’ and ‘agripreneur’ and how to understand business opportunity. He focused on identifying entrepreneurs in the North East and how entrepreneurial personality affects what kind of business person one becomes. Dr Prakash stressed on the challenges especially the unemployment trend faced in North East India. He mentioned the importance of opportunities such as the Digital North East: Vision 2022 introduced by the Government of India and the scope of agri-business in the region by focusing on the strategies for agripreneurship development in the North East region.

The technical sessions were divided into three tracks on the sub themes Finance & Banking and Marketing & Entrepreneurship. Fifteen paper presenters from all over India delivered their research findings on the sub themes through both online and offline mode. The resource persons for the technical sessions were included Dr Ditalak Mpanme, Assistant Professor, Dept of Management Studies, Nagaland University; Dr Subit Dutta, Head of Department of Commerce, Assam University, Diphu Campus; and Dr S Prakash.

This was followed by a panel discussion on the theme “Inclusive Growth in North East Region” moderated by Wapanginla Ao, Dean & HoD of Management Studies, C-Edge College. The panelists for the discussions were P Bulte, Deputy General Manager of NABARD Dimapur, Dr S Prakash, Associate Professor, Dr Lowrence Kithan, Scientist (Agronomy), Dept of Genetics and Plant Breeding, SASRD, Nagaland University and Nilava Nandi, Assistant Professor of Management, Brainware University, Kolkata. 

The NABARD Sponsored National Seminar concluded with the valedictory programme of felicitation, invocation, valedictory speech and distribution of certificates.
