NAF, LKM mourn passing away of Dr Senkalong Yaden

Dimapur, March 17 (MExN): The Naga American Foundation (NAF) has mourned the passing of Dr Senkalong Yaden, who passed away on March 14 in Tyler, Texas. NAF in a press note said that the Foundation honours his life and legacy as a pioneer of the Naga community in the United States and as the NAFs first president, serving from 1988 to 1992. Dr Yaden, along with his wife, Theola Thedford hosted the 1994 NAF gathering in Texas.

Dr Yaden’s vision and leadership helped establish the foundation for the NAF’s mission to foster cultural, educational, and charitable initiatives for Nagas in America, it stated. Over the years, he was not just a leader, but also a mentor, guardian, and friend to many in the Naga American community. “Known for his kindness and humility, he left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him. Dr Yaden’s significant academic achievements led to him being known as the “Man of Science” in wider Naga circles, encouraging Naga youth to participate and contribute in the sciences,” the Foundation stated.

“We are forever grateful for Dr Yaden’s exemplary life and the many ways he enriched the Naga American community. We extend our heartfelt prayers and condolences to his wife and family during this trying time,” NAF added.

Meanwhile, the Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) has also mourned the passing of Dr Senkalong Yaden, a scientist hailing from Merangkong village, and a beacon of wisdom for Langpangkong range. His demise is an irreparable loss to the community and beyond, LKM stated in a press note.

Dr Yaden, revered as the “Man of Science,” was a stalwart in the pursuit of knowledge and an advocate for the aspirations of the Naga people. His tenure as President of the Naga National Council (NNC) was marked by unwavering commitment to the principles of justice and self-determination. “His contributions, both in the scientific domain and in public service, have left an indelible legacy that shall continue to inspire generations to come,” LKM stated and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family, friends and well-wishers.
